UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur received a visit from the Indonesian Ambassador for Colombia, Dr. Priyo Iswanto, and The Second Director of America Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Darianto Harsono, on Tuesday (26/01). The purpose of this visit was to discuss a working meeting of the implementation of cooperation between UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur with the Indonesian Embassy for Colombia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as inaugurating the Center of Latin America Studies or CLAS at UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur.
This work meeting was held in the Seminar room on the second floor of Technopark building and was attended by the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur and several other guests. Priyo Iswanto, in his welcoming speech, mentioned that the collaboration between UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur and the Indonesian Embassy for Colombia was a follow-up to the cooperation between countries, that included Indonesia and Colombia, which had lasted for 40 years.
“In the context of this collaboration, we will further translate the educational field, in this case, a collaboration between UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur and Universidad Externado de Colombia.”
Priyo added that the collaboration could be started by exchanging lecture activity programs. “Universidad Externado de Colombia has pushed for joint publications in the fields of agriculture, economics and start-up development to be done so it can help the development of the two countries that can be utilized by the community,” he said.
Furthermore, the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi, M. MT., has planned programs to implement cooperation programs between the two campuses through the Center of Latin America Studies (CLAS).
“The follow-up to this collaboration could be in the form of joint researches, long-distance lecture exchanges between the two universities for lecturers and students. Moreover, this exchange is much supported through the MBKM program (independent learning on an independent campus), and I think this can provide additional value to increase knowledge and experience for lecturers and students.”
Meanwhile, Darianto Harsono appreciated the collaboration between UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur and the Colombian Embassy. The collaboration is one model that can be developed in other countries in Latin America. “This opportunity is big enough to develop other collaboration programs such as joint researches and publications, and long-distance study with other countries such as Brazil, Argentina or other Latin America countries.”
