Fulfilling the Space and Laboratory Needs for the Faculty of Law
UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur continues to adapt to pursue the target of new students’ admission, one of which is by building the second building of the Law Faculty. This was marked by the groundbreaking procession in the Law Faculty yard, Friday (7/5) and was attended by the Rector, Vice Rectors, Dean of the Law Faculty, the representatives of contractors, lecturers and non-academic staffs.
The Commitment Making Officer (PPK) for the construction of the Faculty of Law second building, Dra. Ety Dwi Susanti, MSi, explained that the construction of the building was committed due to support the increasing number of applicants in the Law Faculty in the recent years. “Due to the increase in the number of applicants in the Faculty of Law, it is necessary to hasten fulfilling the needs for lecture rooms and supporting laboratories.”
Ety added that the building will be a three-floors building, with a budget of 15 billion. Additionally, the building itself will be facing east with a view that is integrated with the Faculty of Law first building. Other facilities that will be in the Faculty of Law second building consist of three lecture rooms with a capacity of 48 people for each room, one lecture room with a capacity of 32 people, an admin room with a capacity of six people on the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, there will be one lecture room with a capacity of 40 people, one meeting room, one prayer room and a connecting bridge. On the 3rd floor, there will be one lecture room with a capacity of 50 people, one ballroom with a capacity of 200 people with several other rooms. Then there will an elevator on each floor for people with disabilities.
The representative of implementing consultant of CV. Madakaripura, Ir. Widya Laxmita, conveyed that the construction of the Faculty of Law second building will be carried out in the near future. “We were given a target of 130 calendar days, and InshaAllah, on September 24 2021, should there be no problems, the Faculty of Law second building should have been completed and can be used in early October 2021.”
Meanwhile, after the groundbreaking procession, the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi, M.MT., said that UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur continued to concentrate on developing the institution to meet the educational needs of the community. Some of the targets that must be achieved immediately including to add study programs that are able to reach at least 20 thousand students. Therefore, this year UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur recruited 138 lecturers and non-academic staffs in order to get a balance between the number of lecturers and students.
“For the Faculty of Law, especially with the construction of the Faculty of Law second building, it is hoped that it will increase the accreditation points and be able to immediately open a Master degree program (Master of Law) hence the faculty along with the institution itself may develop further and can compete with other Law Faculties from different universities,” he concluded.
