The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur hosted the annual agenda of Research Month which its peak event is in December 2019 with the theme of Global Society 5.0, starts with a seminar event “The 4th International Seminar of Research Month.” This is the fourth seminar held by LPPM to welcome ‘research month’ and took place in Giri Pascasarjana Building, UPN “Veteran Jawa Timur on Wednesday (9/10).
The agenda begins with a welcome speech from the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Akhmad Fauzi, MMT., CHRA expressed his gratitude to the committee members for organizing the event better than last year by inviting two expertise from Taiwan and Japan. “The 2019 International Seminar of Research Month (ISRM 2019) was held as a dissemination of the results of Research, Innovation and community service activities from lecturers and students and professional practitioners to support Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma) of UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur,” explained the Rector.
Furthermore, he also expects more on this event to be held more often in the future to develop research results and bring together researchers, academicians, students, and professional practitioners, as well as the importance of networking among them in the local scope and/or international scope.
Head of Committee of ISRM 2019 Ade Kusuma, S. Sos., M. Med. Kom (FISIP lecturer) explained that the purpose of choosing the theme of Global Society 5.0.: Science, Innovation, and Social Economy Dynamic is to answer challenges on welcoming Global Society 5.0 in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, as in this era, higher education institution and all its aspects have roles to develop the science of knowledge by research, to motivate and create a qualified human capital which able to make innovation focused on human welfare in the future.
The ISRM 2019 presents 3 keynote speakers from Indonesia, Taiwan, and Japan. First is a speech from the Head of LP3M UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Dr. Indrawati, S. Ak., MM, CA, CMA. about how the concept of “State-defense of Nation” can be implemented into Industrial Revolution 4.0. The second keynote speaker is from Assoc. Prof. Chao-Lung Yang, Ph.D. from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech). He presents Taiwan’s STEM Education which has been applied by the local government, academicians, collaborating with industrial practitioners in Taiwan. The last speaker is from Upalat Korwatanasakul, Ph. D., a Research and Policy Analysis (RPA) ASEAN – Japan Center program manager. Korwatansakul explains about relations between Japan and other ASEAN countries in developing the global automotive industry.
This year’s event is divided into two sessions. The seminar agenda and class session with 197 participants are attending this session from various backgrounds of expertise, including field of Agriculture, Architecture and Design, Law Science, Engineering, Economics and Business, and Social and Political Science.
