By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • speak, read and write in the Lithuanian language (at A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2 level);
  • understand the historical, social, and (geo)political situation in Lithuania and learn to provide your valuable approach to it;
  • possess knowledge about Lithuanian cinema, music, art, food and literature.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND TUITION WAIVERS

Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course will take place from 02-01-2022 to 31-01-2022.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Important notes before you apply:

  1. The courses are organized by Vytautas Magnus University.
  2. Applicants must be students, lecturers or researchers at foreign Higher Education Institutions (HEI) OR be able to prove their Lithuanian origin.
  3. Recommendation Letter must be sent on this form. 
  4. These courses are available for those whose Lithuanian language proficiency is no higher than C1.
  5. Documents submitted must be completed in English or Lithuanian
  6. You will get the results approximately within a month after the deadline. We kindly ask you to inform us, if you are no longer available to participate, so we can offer your place for a person from the reserve list. Thank you!

Lithuanian language and culture courses for foreigners (application deadline: November 23 inclusive)

Tuition fees for Lithuanian language and culture courses for foreigners can be covered for candidates who are students, lecturers, or researchers of higher education and research institutions of the following countries:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES

All the candidates:

  • Cannot be of Lithuanian language proficiency higher than C1.
  • Candidates can only take advantage of the tuition waiver for the maximum of 3 times in total. Those who apply to participate for the fourth time will not be considered.

Foreigners:

  • The candidate has to be a student, lecturer or researcher of a higher education and research institution of the particular country (applicable for the candidates from the Eastern Partnership, Lithuania priority export market countries, ASEM and all other countries).

Priority (and extra points) will be given to the applicants who:

  • apply for the Lithuanian and culture courses for the first time;
  • formally or informally study Lithuanian language, history and culture as a subject at home institution (a document confirming it must be added to the application form, independent studies of Lithuanian language shall not fall under this category).

FINANCIAL PROVISIONS

  • Participants who register through this link before November 23 can receive the full waiver/funding for this month-long online course. Please keep in mind there is still a selection process from the program organizers as the seats are limited.
  • Tuition fee for Lithuanian language and culture courses will be covered by the Republic of Lithuania and directly transferred to the higher education institution.

Interested participants are expected to read the above information very carefully. Regarding the required documents, KISe/International Office can help provide you with the Status Approval/Enrollment letter, but we suggest you to ask your lecturers/advisors in completing the recommendation letter.
